I Have Never Understood...

WHY DOESN'T ELROND MAKE ISILDUR THROW THE DAMN RING IN THE DAMN MOUNTAIN? IT WOULD BE SO EASY AND THIS WHOLE WAR WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. INSTEAD HE JUST STANDS THERE WATCHING HIM LEAVE. GOOD GOING, ELROND. YOU ARE A FAILURE.

    I must be the only person in the whole western world who has read neither the Lord of the Rings nor any of the Harry Potter books. BUT - I HAVE read War and Peace.

    Actually I have read parts of it.However, I remember part of an important line from The Sea Wolf when the captain says that it is better to rule in hell than to whatever in heaven.
